She came to Heidi’s House in September of 2014 and taught preschool for three years. After preschool she began floating around the building allowing herself to spend time in all of the classrooms, with a focus on infants and creepers. While Lisa still loves to be in the classroom as much as possible, she enjoys the responsibilities and challenges of supervising and supporting the teaching staff on a daily basis.

She received her Master’s Degree at Wheelock College for Leadership and Policy in Early Childhood Education in August of 2011. Sara’s contribution to Heidi’s House is extensive and impacts the quality of the daily programs delivered to children and families. One of our all-time favorites was an angry homeowner who called us in frustration after a big vendor’s installation. Turning off all the lights with a single tap was an impossible task! We swooped in and fixed it, leaving them happily tapping away.

MICRO-HOME BUILT BY OUR TEAM

The Ennis House is a residential dwelling in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States, south of Griffith Park. The home was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Charles and Mabel Ennis in 1923 and was built in 1924. To provide attainable housing and a sense of belonging for everyone through micro-home communities. Since then, with the magnificent talents of chef Cipriano Pita and staff, Heidi’s House has served delicious food, craft and imported beer and cider, and a nice selection of wines. By design, there is no television to distract from lively conversation, but Ed has created a sophisticated jazz mix that fills the small space with quiet pleasure. Neighborhood regulars meet their friends here, or make new ones, and the atmosphere is always warm and friendly.

Heidi's House of Hope is a nonprofit dedicated to providing attainable housing through micro-home communities. We want to empower renters to become homeowners and enable them to live their best lives with job opportunities, a supportive community, and financial and health education. Sara Perrigo is responsible for the daily operations of the center which includes supervision of all staff, programs, curriculum, state regulations and NAEYC standards. She has been a full-time employee at Heidi’s House since May of 1996. In May of 2000, she completed her bachelor of arts degree in Sociology at the University of Southern Maine.

In 1940, the house was sold to media personality John Nesbitt, who had Wright add a pool on the north terrace, a billiard room on the ground floor, and a heating system. The 300 year old Heidi's House is the origin of the world famous story of Heidi. Johanna Spyri was inspired by the people and ways of life living here for her story of Heidi.

Amy first began at Heidi's House as a parent, when her youngest daughter started preschool in 2011. Amy has her undergraduate degree in Business Administration and in 2001 she received her Masters of Teaching and Learning from the University of Southern Maine. Prior to working at Heidi's House, Amy taught various grades at the elementary level.

Amy has spent time in all of Heidi's House Infant and Toddler classrooms since 2011. Amy truly enjoys the balance of being in the classrooms working with children as well as supporting the teaching and administrative staff. Lisa has known from a very young age that she was born to work with children. After graduating from Plymouth State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Studies she jumped right into the childcare field.

The 1975 production of Day of the Locust also used the location as a private residence. The house became legendary as the inspiration for the apartment of Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) in Ridley Scott’s 1982 film Blade Runner. The exterior was also featured in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer as the home of Angelus, Spike, and Drusilla. Earthquakes and rains have taken their toll on the house, which was designated as a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument in 1976. Recent renovations have stabilized the building and it remains a private residence rarely open to the public.

S Club 7's video for the single "Have You Ever" shows the band members living an everyday life in the house and Ricky Martin music video song "Vuelve". In 2006 a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant was issued, as well as a US$4.5 million construction loan through First Republic Bank, which restarted restoration efforts. The project included a new structural support system, restoration or replacement of damaged blocks, restoration of windows, and a new roof. Restoration work was completed in 2007 at a cost of nearly US$6.4 million.[17] No announcement was made regarding access by the public and the Ennis House remains closed to public visitors.
